The TRUTH about Global Warming

Almost all rational people agree that the climate changes. There is incontrovertible evidence that glaciers once covered North America as far south as St. Louis. Obviously it’s warmer now as anyone who’s visited St. Louis in the summer can tell you. What should not be clear to rational human beings is what causes climate change. This is important, because according to President Obama, climate change is caused by human activity, specifically through the release of CO2 into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels. As a result, President Obama and like-minded world leaders have designated hundreds of billions of dollars for climate relief for less developed countries, while simultaneously subsidizing green energy and impeding fossil fuel production and use at home. This ultimately increases the cost of everything and is a further drag on the economy.

Are we being told the truth about global warming? It doesn’t seem likely. Skeptics have always questioned the theory that global warming is primarily man caused. Most recently John L. Casey, a former White House national space policy advisor, NASA headquarters consultant, and space shuttle engineer presented an alternative explanation in his book, Dark Winter. He believes and tries to demonstrate that solar cycles are the primary driver of climate change. The book is available online, and the cable program Newsmax has aired an hour long review of the book. (The review is very non-objective, more like an infomercial than it might be, but in it Casey presents his hypothesis for climate change.) His explanation makes more logical sense than the man caused theory and seems to have more accurate temperature records to support it.

It explains previous warming and cooling of the earth that couldn’t have been caused by human activity. Casey also points out both the persistent inaccuracies of the global warming predictions; the Arctic was supposed to be ice-free by 2013, for instance. He also presents a reasonable explanation for why so many world leaders and scientists continue to promote their theory of man caused global warming. If you follow the money trail, many of the scientists supporting that theory are funded by government leaders looking to promote that point of view. Some temperature statistics have been tampered with to please the funding agencies. Politicians, like our President, get donations and support, which translates into political power from the green energy block while having another excuse to promote the redistribution of wealth that is part of their social justice ideology.

Personally, I resent the scare tactics being used by Obama and his fellow Democrats to threaten me with catastrophe if I don’t support their program. Persuade me, don’t frighten me or bully me. It’s also hard for me to accept what they say about climate change, when these are the same people that told me I could keep my health plan, keep my doctor, and see my insurance rate reduced by $2400 a year. A government that would lie about Benghazi is certainly capable of lying about climate change.

It may well be that Casey is also wrong about climate change. His belief that global warming has halted and we’re heading into a period of global cooling seems to be supported by the evidence, but it may also be flawed. At the very least, however, there should be an honest discussion about climate change so that reasonable steps can be taken to lessen the effects on human society. If carbon emissions aren’t causing global warming, then we are crippling our economy for nothing, not to mention sending hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to other countries for something that is not our fault.

That man caused climate change is “settled science” is a lie. It doesn’t explain previous climate changes before mankind had a climate footprint. Worse, the measures we are taking couldn’t possibly slow down climate change significantly if they were right. We need to demand more open and honest discussion on this question and hold our leaders responsible if they are using climate change to enrich their supporters and increase their political power.
