In a recent speech to his supporters, President Obama denied ever saying that “if you like the healthcare you have, you can keep it. If you like your doctor, you can keep them.”
It seems that the President is trying to blame his political opponents for his own broken promises.
In fact, the President says that what he said wasn’t what he meant at all…
“What we said was you could keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law was passed… If we had allowed these old plans [to continue]… then we would have broken an even more important promise — making sure that Americans gain access to health care that doesn’t leave them one illness away from financial ruin… So the bottom line is, is that we are making the insurance market better for everybody.”
There’s a mighty big difference between “if you like your healthcare you can keep it – period,” and “if you like your healthcare and you’ve had it since before the law was passed, you can keep it.”
I tell you what, let’s go back and look at the tape of all 36 times you’ve talked about this before, and we’ll see if we can even find one time where you mentioned this whole, “if it hasn’t changed” thing. If you’ve even said it once, we’ll let the whole thing drop – fair?
Not even once did the President ever make this distinction. For five years he’s been saying “if you like it you can keep it,” and now, you can’t keep it. This is a textbook lie, Mr. President. You are a liar.
And it wasn’t just the President spreading these lies. The entire Democrat Party was in on the scheme. Now let’s see if the American people will make the Democrat Party sorry for their lies in 2014.
