Obamacare Rollout (Still) Worse Than You Thought

I know, I know… we all understand that the Obamacare rollout was (and is) an abject failure and that even if you wanted to sign up, there is about a 90% chance that you wouldn’t be able to. Don’t get ahead of me here, dear reader… I’ve got some new information for you that makes the Obama administration seem even more inept than usual. Or maybe the information makes them look like bigger liars than they usually do.

I personally believe the latter, that the Obama administration may very well be filled with pathological liars who are simply using the Obama years to lie as much as they can to as many people as they can. Perhaps you are a kinder person, who believes the people working in the Obama administration are simply incompetent. That’s your right, but read the latest news before you decide.

It seems that recently uncovered memos reported on by ABC News prove that the other ways to sign up for Obamacare are just as bad as the internet.

While President Obama and other top aides have publicly reassured frustrated consumers that they can bypass the troubled website and apply by phone in as little as 25 minutes, those working most closely with the rollout acknowledged privately that even the nonelectronic avenues would be no more efficient or guaranteed, the documents show.

Sadly, some may have thought that by using the mail or phone option they were already signed up… but it’s just not true. They may have also thought their information would be safer using these other methods, but that’s not the case either.

“The same portal is used to determine eligibility no matter how the application is submitted (paper, online),” reads a Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight memo from Oct. 11.

“The paper applications allow people to feel like they are moving forward in the process and provides another option,” it says. “At the end of the day, we are all stuck in the same queue.”

That’s right. The phone and mail sign up for Obamacare is riddled with the same problems that face the online sign-up system.

At this point you might be saying. “Great. So the whole system is screwed, but where is this ‘new’ Obama lie?” I’ll tell you where – it happened in a speech he gave in Boston on October 30th in an attempt to assuage the fears of the American people. First, he recognized that the website portal was a huge problem, but he wanted people to know there were other options. “In the meantime, you can still apply for coverage over the phone, or by mail, or in person,” he said, “because those plans are waiting and you’re still able to get the kind of affordable, reliable health insurance that’s been out of reach for too many people for too long.”

Except, Mr. President, they can’t sign up that way either, because anyone signing up that way is still using the online portal!

GoebbelsLieHe also made similar comments on October 21st in his now famous Rose Garden speech (famous because a pregnant diabetic woman almost fainted on him – or did she?). However, new memos reveal that President Obama knew he was lying when he made his October speeches. In fact he would have known as early as October 11th that it didn’t matter which method a person used to try to sign up for Obamacare, the probability of failure was still the same.

The ugly truth is that whether you sign up by mail, phone or internet, your information will always be processed through the website. So as long as the problems persist with the website, the same problems will persist with the mail and phone options as well.
