The Obama administration in all of its wisdom has decided that you and I will have to pay for federal government workers to get the abortions they want. Oh, what’s that? You’re a Christian and you believe that abortion is the legalized murder of helpless children? Sucks to be you.
It’s probably not okay to make light of a situation that is so serious, but I don’t think my heart could handle the thought of plainly considering that some of the money I make and involuntarily give to the federal government is used to systematically rip children from their mother’s wombs and tear them limb from limb. In fact, if I were to consider that the government might take my hard earned money and use it to murder other people… it could drive me to become an extremist of some kind. However, while the federal government would legalize the murder of children against my vocal opposition, they would never force me to act in violation of my religious beliefs… would they?
Yeah, yeah they would.
The Obama administration, through the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), ruled on Monday that Congress and their staffs would be allowed to buy health care plans that pay for abortion, even though their premiums are basically funded by taxpayer dollars. Funded by taxpayer dollars? Oh, did you buy the media driven leftist drivel that said Congress wasn’t exempt from Obamacare? Sorry to burst your bubble, but while Congress may have to find their plans through Obamacare exchanges, they won’t be paying for their insurance.
“Under the terms of Obamacare, lawmakers and their aides are required to ditch their government-sponsored plans and buy insurance on state-based health care exchanges, though unlike most people on the exchanges, the staffers and members will have most of the costs of their premiums paid by their employer — in this case, taxpayers.”
Fortunately, Congress won’t be paying for your insurance and they won’t be paying for their insurance… and the poor won’t be paying for your insurance either.
Does that not sound good? It didn’t sound good when I wrote it either.
Let’s get back to my original point though.
Not only will we be paying for the healthcare of Congress and their staffs, we’ll also be forced to pay for their abortions. Now, American law says that it is illegal to use tax dollars to pay for abortions… but the Obama administration doesn’t think this is actually a problem. See, they are going to make the money for abortion coverage come straight out of the employee’s contribution…
Yes, it is basically a ridiculous shell game, but this is how the government works.
Rep. Christopher Smith (R-NJ), says that the OPM is violating the law, “You can’t break the law, Mr. President, and just issue a final rule as if somehow you’re comporting with the law… We don’t want to subsidize abortion on demand, and the public is absolutely with us.”
Sadly, at this point it seems that those of us who object to abortion find ourselves unheard by our government. The media has taken the side of Democrats on the Obamacare funding issue, which means that they will likely continue to stand against Republican efforts to amend the Obamacare legislation.
If Obamacare is not amended, then we who believe abortion is murder will be forced by our government to take part in the murder of thousands of children.
I would ask even the most ardent abortion supporter — is that not a heinous thing to do a person? Do you not see how disgusting it is to force a person to participate in a procedure that they believe to be one of the most monstrous, immoral acts one can ever partake in? Our disagreement on abortion should not mean that I am forced to participate, simply because you think you should be able to have an abortion.
At this point, it seems that our only hope is that the Supreme Court might find that there must be room made for religious objectors to opt out of paying into the system or being involved in the system at all. But with this ruling being so recently made, it seems inevitable that many of us will have to pay for abortions if we want to remain “good” citizens. The only alternative is to not pay federal income tax, which would make us criminals.
We are between Scylla and Charybdis. On the one hand, I have no desire to break any laws… on the other hand, my soul is wrenched at the thought of playing any part in even a single abortion.
This is what our government has brought us to.
