Reverend Franklin Graham says an “Ugly, Anti-Christian Bias” in America is Growing

This past Easter the Reverend Franklin Graham, son of famed Evangelist Billy Graham, took to Facebook to post Easter well wishes and to remind Christians everywhere the truth of the evil we face.

He reminded American Christians that millions of our brothers and sisters in Christ were facing life and death choices at the hands of brutal Islamists.

Millions in many countries risk their freedom and—their very lives—to worship Him and claim His Name. Even under the threat of imprisonment, they faithfully follow, like Pastor Saeed Abidini and scores of others. Despite the ever extending reach of the murderous hand of Islamist terror groups like ISIS, they continue to gather to pray as we saw in Kenya this week with 147 brutally killed in cold blood…

However, just because Christians in America aren’t being killed for the things that we believe does not mean that we are not facing very real persecution from the culture around us.

Even in America there has recently grown an ugly, anti-Christian bias and intolerance that is changing our nation from the inside out, opening doors for all kinds of discrimination and loss of religious freedom that we hear about daily in the news.

Today untold millions of Christians around the world are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus…

Today untold millions of Christians around the world are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And millions in many countries risk their freedom and—their very lives—to worship Him and claim His Name. Even under the threat of imprisonment, they faithfully follow, like Pastor Saeed Abidini and scores of others. Despite the ever extending reach of the murderous hand of Islamist terror groups like ISIS, they continue to gather to pray as we saw in Kenya this week with 147 brutally killed in cold blood. Even in America there has recently grown an ugly, anti-Christian bias and intolerance that is changing our nation from the inside out, opening doors for all kinds of discrimination and loss of religious freedom that we hear about daily in the news. Jesus clearly warned us that, “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” He said, “if the world hates you, know that it hated me first.” Pray for all those across the globe who are suffering persecution and difficulty for His Name’s sake.

Franklin GrahamThe truth is, folks, that things will probably continue to deteriorate here in our beloved America. Our culture has been moving further and further from God for decades now, and unless He in His mercy sends another “Great Awakening,” the persecution we see now is likely to get worse. Are you ready to be as faithful as our siblings in the Muslim world? Are you ready to stand as strong as our kin who labor under the boot of communism? Some things are more important than politics, and our decision to persevere no matter the roadblocks put before us by an unbelieving world is one of them.

2 Corinthians 4:8-11 (ESV)

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

John 15:19-21 (ESV)

If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.  Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me.

Matthew 5:10-12 (ESV)

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.  Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
