Hip-hop artist Azealia Banks recently did an interview with Playboy where she explains everything that is wrong with America. The 23-year old girl from New York City apparently believes that she is wise beyond her years, because she can see the hearts of millions of Middle Americans. (Because unless you live in a coastal city, Ms. Banks apparently believes you’re not worth her time.)
See, Banks said she hates “everything about this country,” especially “fat white Americans. All the people who are crunched into the middle of America, the real fat and meat of America, are these racist conservative white people who live on their farms.”
She also discussed just how much she hates having to explain herself to her “little white fans”.
“I get annoyed with the fact that I’m even asked to explain myself. Why do I have to explain this to y’all? My little white fans will be like, ‘Why do you want reparations for work you didn’t do?’ Well, you got handed down your grandfather’s estate and you got to keep your grandmother’s diamonds and pearls and s–t.”
If you’re surprised by her reaction, then you haven’t been paying attention to what is happening in the media and in our schools. In both places, Americans are being conditioned to believe the narrative that somehow everyone who doesn’t live in a liberal coastal city must be a fat, evil, racist hayseed whose family was once rich.
If I could convey a message to Azealia Banks (not that she cares), it would be this.
Shut up. You’re 23-years old and maybe you’ve had a tough first 23 years, but that doesn’t mean you understand life in America. There are more than 300 million of us who have all had diverse life situations and conditions. More than half the country fits inside of your definition of things you hate, and you’ve likely never really gotten to know even one of us. You describe a ridiculous caricature of what “middle Americans” are supposed to be, which tells me you’ve probably never actually met anyone from Middle America. So shut up, before you lose everything you’ve been given by your fans.
One last thing… you may “Hate” America and her people, but it’s these things you hate so much that have given you everything you have. If your “little white fans” walked away… you’d have to find a “real” job doing “real” work; you could forget about giving interviews in Playboy and find yourself sitting on a couch watching interviews on MTV.
See, the truth of the matter, Ms. Banks, is that in a couple of short quotes you’ve just described everything that is wrong in America today. Our people have become lazy, ignorant and thoughtless, and it’s because of these characteristics that people who have had everything handed to them have begun to act like entitled children throwing a tantrum because life is so hard… forgetting that they currently reside in the lap of luxury.
A lap of luxury that was brought to them by the very people, culture, society and history that they say they hate.
