Religion of Peace? Sydney, Australia Attacked by Muslim Terrorist

On Monday the world froze as news of a crazed gunman running amok in a popular mall in Sydney, Australia broke.

Man Haron Monis, also known as Mohammad Hassan Manteghi, is a 49-year old self- proclaimed Muslim man who has had many run-ins with the Australian law. His website even carries a quote that he posted several weeks ago, “I used to be a Rafidi, but not any more. Now I am a Muslim, Alhamdu Lillah”.

Now he will be known as the Muslim terrorist who held Sydney captive for some 16 hours, leading to the deaths of three people, including Monis himself.

Monis first came to the attention of law enforcement officials after writing horrible letters to the families of dead Australian soldiers. He described the letters as his version of a “flower basket” or “condolence card.” The courts disagreed with him and Monis was sentenced to 300 hours of community service for using the mail to “cause offense.”

man haron monis1Then, in November of last year, Monis was charged with being an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife, Noleen Hason Pal. His ex-wife was stabbed, then set on fire in a local apartment complex. Monis’ girlfriend, Amirah Droudis, (who helped him send the despicable letters to from above) has been charged with Pal’s murder, and the police believe that Monis was an accessory to the crime before and after the fact.

It doesn’t end there…

Around the same time that Monis was facing trial for his ex-wife’s murder, Monis was arrested and charged with some 40 sexual offenses that he allegedly committed back in 2002. Around that time Monis was working as a “spiritual healer.”

The woman visited the clinic twice within a week. On the first occasion it will be alleged that Monis indecently assaulted her. A week later he is alleged to have indecently and sexually assaulted her. “The assaults are alleged to have been undertaken under the guise of a spiritual healing technique, and the man warned the woman not to tell anyone about them,” police said in a statement.

While no reason for Monis’ decision to take hostages has yet come to light, the local Muslim community fears reprisal from non-Muslim Australia. I always find it amusing how worried the Muslim community gets every time one of their fellow Muslims does something violent. Instead of working to keep other Muslims from committing violent atrocities, they always seem to focus on non-Muslims looking for revenge.

While Monis may be dead, the pain he has caused will continue on into the future as the innocence of Sydney’s citizens has been harshly stripped away by the actions of the latest Islamic terrorist.
