Democrat Mary Landrieu is Falling Apart

On Monday we brought you the story of Senator Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) chief-of-staff, Don Cravins, Jr., telling liberal supporters that Landrieu was a reliable vote for Obama. This is only news because Landrieu herself is telling people all over Louisiana that she is an independent voice in the Senate and that she will fight against Obama’s anti-Louisiana plans.

Well, today we have another Landrieu collapse story, only this time it’s Don Cravins, Sr., father of Landrieu’s chief-of-staff, who is causing problems for the Landrieu campaign.

Don Cravins, Sr. is the mayor of Opelousas, Louisiana and a heavy-hitter in the Louisiana Democrat Party. He was recently speaking at an event to gin up support for Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu when he urged Louisiana Democrats to commit voter fraud!

“If you early voted, go vote again tomorrow. One more time’s not going to hurt. Tomorrow we’re going to elect [Democrat] Earl Tayor as [District Attorney], so he won’t prosecute you if you vote twice.”

Mary Landrieu better be careful – it sure does seem like the Cravins family is out to get her!

It has really been a rough start to the week for Landrieu, who also got walloped in a debate with Bill Cassidy on Monday night.

Here are a few key failures from her debate –

First, supporting a gas tax in Louisiana where oil and gas issues are king.

Second, saying Obamacare is working… in a state that HATES Obamacare.

Then she claimed that she had NEVER backed abortion. Which is surprising because as Twitter commenters quickly noted, Landrieu gets a 0% rating from pro-life groups and a 100% rating from pro-abortion groups!

But probably the worst part for Landrieu was that the debate seemed to center in on her nefarious dealings with the people of Louisiana’s money. See, Senator Landrieu has been caught up in a scandal that revealed she had been inappropriately using tax dollars for personal enjoyment.

You would think the news that since 2000 Landrieu had spent some $34,000 on forty-three separate incidents of chartered travel to fundraisers and other campaign events, the result of an audit by the law firm of Perkins Coie into her Senate office books, would have exploded into Louisiana’s media.

Ouch. It’s already been a tough week for Landrieu and it is expected to only get worse. Louisiana will vote for their Senator on Saturday and it’s looking increasingly likely that Landrieu will lose that race to her opponent Bill Cassidy (R-LA) by a pretty wide margin. Silver lining for Landrieu though… this time next week all the pain should be over.
