A few months ago we introduced you to the former Islamic extremist (now Christian) who is fighting hard to reveal the truth about Islam to the world, Brother Rachid. Brother Rachid is a popular media personality who works mostly on Alhayat TV – Alhayat is a Christian company that broadcasts in Arabic in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, North American, Australia and in Europe. Brother Rachid’s programs have been credited with playing a role in the conversion of over 150,000 Muslims to Christianity in Morocco!
Well, Brother Rachid is back, this time with an interview with the 11-year old daughter of Saudi Arabian freedom advocate Raif Badawi.
Raif Badawi is a Saudi blogger who created an online forum to encourage public debate about Islam, freedom and democracy.
Badawi was arrested in 2012 and charged with cyber-crime and apostasy. Apostasy of course carries a possible death sentence in most Muslim nations, and Saudi Arabia is no different. He was eventually sentenced to 10 years prison and 1000 lashes for daring to write about freedom, individual liberties and the rise of Islamic extremism in Saudi Arabia. During his trial Badawi was accused of “setting up a website that undermines general security ” and “ridiculing Islamic religious figures”.
“The decision to sentence Raif Badawi to ten years in prison and 1,000 lashes is outrageous.
He is a prisoner of conscience who is guilty of nothing more than daring to create a public forum for discussion and peacefully exercising the right to freedom of expression,” said Philip Luther, Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Amnesty International.
The authorities must overturn his conviction and release him immediately and unconditionally.
Raif Badawi is the latest victim to fall prey to the ruthless campaign to silence peaceful activists in Saudi Arabia.
The authorities seem determined to crush all forms ofdissent through every means at their disposal, including imposing harsh prison sentences and corporal punishment on activists.”
Brother Rachid interviewed Badawi’s 11-year old daughter in an attempt to help get the word out about the injustice done to Badawi.
We must stand with Brother Rachid and Raif Badawi in the fight against Islam – #FreeRaif
