Uncovered White House Documents Show the Obama Administration Targeted CBS Reporter Sharyl Attkisson

The wonderful folks at Judicial Watch are often doing the hard work of discovery in an effort to keep our government honest. Judicial Watch works hard requesting government documents through the Freedom of Information Act. They often have to fight to get the government to act according to the law and turn those documents over; then they spend thousands of hours pouring over those documents in an effort to uncover any malfeasance.

Recently, they found another example of the Obama Administration’s blatant disregard for the rights and privileges of the American people. For months now, former award-winning journalist Sharyl Attkisson has been sounding the alarm that something is amiss within the ranks of the Obama administration. For the most part, the media, egged on by the Obama Cheerleaders at Media Matters, have done a good job covering up Attkisson’s attempts to show the world just how immoral and deceitful the administration is…

But now, we have proof that the White House, the Department of Justice and some members of the media were working together to undermine Attkisson’s good work.

From the PJ Tattler

cbs sharyl attkissonOne of the documents provides smoking gun proof that the Obama White House and the Eric Holder Justice Department colluded to get CBS News to block reporter Sharyl Attkisson. Attkisson was one of the few mainstream media reporters who paid any attention to the deadly gun-running scandal.

In an email dated October 4, 2011, Attorney General Holder’s top press aide, Tracy Schmaler, called Attkisson “out of control.” Schmaler told White House Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz that he intended to call CBS news anchor Bob Schieffer to get the network to stop Attkisson.

Schultz replied, “Good. Her piece was really bad for the AG.”

Schultz also told Schmaler that he was working with reporter Susan Davis, then at the National Journal, to target Rep. Darrel Issa (R-CA). Issa led the House investigation into Fast and Furious. Davis now works at USA Today. In the email chain, Schultz tells Schmaler that he would provide Davis with “leaks.”

Davis wrote a critical piece on Issa a few weeks later.

To make matters worse (if possible), Twitchy has some coverage of other members of the media – so called “reporters” and “journalists” – who were actually cheering on the White House’s attacks on Attkisson.

Oh by the way, that Media Matters story about the “stuck backspace key” was proven wrong almost immediately.

What is more disturbing? What is more telling of how low our modern political culture has fallen?

That the Obama Administration is actively attacking the First Amendment and seeking to spread lies about an honest reporter just doing her job.

Or

That her fellow “journalists” in the media aren’t more agitated and aggrieved by the unlawful behavior of this administration.

The media’s bias against conservatives and towards liberals has never been more damaging for our nation. The media is supposed to be our primary watchdog against government malfeasance… instead they’ve become a lapdog for the Democrat Party. The mainstream media should have the good sense to be ashamed of itself, but I’m not sure that the majority of their members have the capacity to feel shame.
